Apple Butter

applebutter

Nope, there’s no butter in apple butter. The name refers to the silky texture. Apple butter pairs nicely with ham, pork chops, and chicken; and you can use it as an accompaniment or a glaze. Consider whipping up your own batch of easy applesauce to get you started.

Jars of apple butter make great foodie gifts, and there’s really no need to waste time canning your preserves. Just tell the lucky recipient to keep it in the refrigerator and use within two weeks. (It’s so good, they will be lucky if it lasts two days!) If you want to make a big batch for yourself, simply store your surplus in the freezer using freezer-safe glass or plastic jars.
