Applesauce

applesauceApples and an immersion/stick blender are all you need to make velvety, smooth applesauce. Add a squeeze of lemon and a blob of honey to take it over the edge.

This humble side dish is so versatile; make it into apple butter or BBQ sauce. And don’t forget the pork chops.

Instructions
  1. Add water and apple chunks to a deep pot. Cover with a lid, and cook on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes or until the apples are completely soft. Some types of apples may take longer than others.
  2. Remove from heat and add lemon juice, honey, and small pinch of sea salt.
  3. Puree with an immersion/stick blender until smooth. Be careful! Keep the blade below the surface of the sauce when blending to avoid splatters.
  4. Serve warm or chilled. Sauce will keep covered in the refrigerator for up to one week, and in the freezer for 4-6 months.
Recipe Notes

Try this with pears instead of apples, and don't skip the honey. You can thank me later.
